MEGHAN O'FERRAL
Dear freshman self,
Theres a lot that I have learned in my past couple years of high school that I need to share with you. The topics of what I need to tell you range from school work, to teachers, to social life. I also want to share with you how much you are going to change in the near future. Let's start with school work and classes. Your core classes freshman year are the easiest that your core classes will ever be. You may think you have a lot of work, but compared to the work that comes later in the years it's nothing! Sorry to tell you, but you will only like your math classes freshman and senior year. Your favorite class will be American History 2 with Ms. Holland. She keeps class very interesting and very structured and thats exactly what you need. You will get the most work in your english classes so you need to be organized and divide up your work to get it done on time. DO NOT PROCRASTINATE!!! That is what will kill you the most in your classes. Quit saving everything to the last minute. You're going to get extra stressed if you keep doing that. You're not going to like every single one of your teachers. You will actually end up despising some of them, but you have to fake it till you make it! Act as nice as you can, stay on everyone's good side, and do what you're supposed to do. You're going to have classes every year where you don't have a teacher. I don't know why, but they ALWAYS leave and they leave you right in the beginning of the class as well. You are going to struggle with that a lot and have a couple sloppy grades, but you'll learn to expect it senior year and learn how to deal with it. Now for the best part! Your social life! There's a saying about how you're not going to have the same friends for all four years of high school. That is true for some of your friends, but you will stick with your two best friends for all of high school so don't worry about losing them. I promise you that you wont. You'll get annoyed with them sometimes, but you love them and will be glad they stuck with you. You will switch friend groups a lot and will continue to do that all the way through senior year, but it makes it more fun. You're not stuck with the same people and you can change things up every once in a while. You're also going to end up finding a great boyfriend, but you need to learn to make time for him and your friends. You don't want to lose all of your friends because of that one boy. You will change so much in high school. You will start off thinking that you're so cool, but you're wrong and you'll realize that pretty quickly. Your school work, activities, and friends will help shape you into the person you will become. You will learn the importance of hard work and dedication to achieve things. You will learn that you need to be nice and respectful to everyone because you could be the difference in their lives. You will learn to have a positive attitude and not be so self centered as well. Enjoy high school and make the most of it. Make memories that you can remember forever I wish I had known about those things and what to do before high school started. There will be a lot of up and downs, but that's what makes it interesting. Good luck juggling everything. Its hard, but it possible. :) Sincerely, Meghan (senior self)

That was a long, yet awesome letter and I relate so much. You were right when you advised yourself not to procrastinate and that you would despise some of your teachers. I wish I had known some of these things when I was a freshman too. ;-)

Thanks Joey!! Should I try to shorten it a bit? If so what do you think I should take out?

This was a very thorough and detailed letter. However, I would suggest more specific examples rather than speaking in generalities. Over all this was a fascinating letter and I enjoyed reading it.

MeghanI enjoy playing soccer. I plan to continue to play soccer through college. I really like to hang out with my friends, but I also like to stay home and watch Netflix. Contact
